Year 2006 Statistics

 

In the year 2006, the Corrections component of the Sheriff's Office booked 2760 persons and released 2729 inmates.  This represents a 2.9% increase in the number of persons booked over the prior three years and a 2.9% increase in releases over the same period.  

 

Breaking down the statistics even further, we had no federal prisoners housed in Hancock County in 2006.  There were 2168 males and 592 females booked into our system.

In 2006, the average daily population was 100.  Our highest population in one day was 126, while the lowest was 65.  We spent 233 days in year 2006 with a population that exceeded our maximum population of 98.   99.99% of those booked were persons involved with our local court system - either Common Pleas, Juvenile Court, Findlay or Fostoria Municipal Courts.

The year 2006 population breaks down as such: 79% of our inmates were White, 12% Black, 8% Hispanic, 1% Asian and 0% for American Indian and Unknown races.  20% were married, 65% were single, 14% were divorced and 1% were widowed.

Out of 583 felons housed in the jail, 473 were male and 110 were female.  Of the 2079 misdemeanants housed, 1650 were male and 429 were female.
